Stream 50+ Sports with Kayo

Kayo was launched last year and we had posted about as how to enjoy the sports with your Android. In this post we will let you know how to stream Kayo sports even with your iOS and the best plans for it in Australia. Kayo is now a streaming platform that provides access to a wealth of sports, from basketball to cricket, motorsports and soccer. A single monthly payment of $25 gets you access to the entire library of over 50 sports: matches live and on demand, match commentary, interviews and docos.

Kayo sports has some pretty unique features, like ‘split-screen’ which allows you to watch multiple matches at the same time, ‘key moments’ which shows you where to find the best parts of a match and ‘no spoilers’ which blocks scores from appearing in the menu when you browse.

Kayo’s exhaustive list of sports includes AFL, NRL, cricket, football, motorsports, basketball, golf, baseball, tennis, US football, surfing, athletics, extreme sports, field hockey, gymnastics, boxing, MMA, darts, sailing, swimming and squash alongwith various others.

Foxtel’s partnership with ESPN, Kayo features plenty of international programming as well as local Aussie favourites. You can watch some US college basketball, followed by the latest in international cricket, then the Rabbitohs vs St George, and top it all off with some Formula One.

As well as live and on demand matches, Kayo also features sports commentary, press conference footage, ‘mini’ game highlights and popular sports TV shows like NRL 360, Fight Night and The Back Page. There are also hundreds of hours of sports docos to check out including ESPN’s 30 for 30 series.

Kayo’s content is a mirror of what you can get with Foxtel Sport, with the exception of the Sky Racing and Eurosport channel content, as well as the English Premier League, which currently only streams to Australians through Optus Sport.

Kayo can also be accessed on multiple devices including a dedicated Apple TV app. Search Kayo Sports on your Apple TV device, download the app and login to start watching. If you want to watch on your TV, at the moment there are limited options to choose from. If you’ve got a smart TV with Android TV OS 7.1 or above, you can download the Kayo app straight onto your set. Otherwise, you can get it on 4th generation Apple TVs, Google Chromecast and Telstra TV.

If you’re using a Chromecast, Telstra TV or a “non-supported Android TV”, it’s worth noting that you will miss out on Kayo’s signature split-screen function. Apple TV is currently the only streaming device to support it.

If you want to watch on your computer, Kayo will work with Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

But you should note that on mobile phones you can only split your screen two ways, whereas tablets allow you to split your screen up to four ways.

Kayo’s data usage is fairly standard for a streaming service. You’ll use 2.5GB of data per hour watching at 720p, and 3.25GB per hour at 1080p. But note that using split-screen will multiply your data usage like watching two games simultaneously will double your hourly data usage. Two 1080p streams will use 6.5GB per hour, three will use 9.75GB per hour, and four will use 13GB per hour.

Telstra Kayo sports plans

Telstra plans work best for Kayo sports. If you’re an existing Telstra customer you can add Kayo to your monthly bill. Pre-paid and small business customers are not eligible.

Also the Telstra TV set-top box can be bundled with any Telstra broadband plan for an extra $9 per month over 24 months. As well as getting Kayo straight onto your TV, the Telstra TV can also support other streaming platforms like Netflix and Stan, and control live TV.
